Wood Stakes Introduction

A significant amount of our stake business is the distribution of planting and tree stakes to farm, landscape, and nursery supply stores. We sell for resale only and as such do not sell directly to the farmers, landscape contractors, or nurseries.

Most of our stock is treated with CA-C (Copper Azole - Type C). It is the recommended treatment because it provides the same level of performance as CCA pressure treated wood without the use of arsenic and chromium. Treated wood stakes often do not have enough sap wood to allow for a full treatment, as it is the sap wood that absorbs the preservative. Due to a high percentage of impenetrable heartwood, a wood stake can not "conform" with any AWPA Standard. The phrase "non-conforming" indicates that the wood is treated under specified conditions until it refuses preservative, a point "usually" below the requirements of AWPA Use Category 4A.

    The round stakes are commonly Lodgepole Pine and Doug Fir cores, and square stakes are commonly Doug Fir. Stakes can be made to order, but here are the sizes we currently stock:
