Wood Posts Introduction

We have a large peeled and doweled post inventory, treated and untreated. They arrive fresh from the mill and are air-dried to bring down the moisture content to optimize the penetration and retention of chemical treatment. Lodgepole Pine is the predominant species of wood we distribute. The Lodgepole Pine tree is known for its long, slender trunk and high, thin crown. It is popular in vineyard and fence applications due to its ability to flex with heavy loads without breaking.

Since alot of our posts are put into agricultural applications, we treat most of our Pine stock with CCA (Chromated Copper Arsenate) to a .40 pcf (per cubic foot) retention for ground contact use. For residential applications, CA-C (Copper Azole - Type C) is the recommended treatment because it provides the same level of performance as CCA pressure treated wood without the use of arsenic and chromium.

We fill special orders where we treat our posts with Penta (Pentachlorophenol). The cost is higher than that of CCA, but we see these occasionally going into industrial, commercial and other robust outdoor applications.
